Sinhala speech to text — transcribe Sinhala audio
Speak Sinhala into the mic or upload Sinhala audio and get සිංහල text in the Chrome side panel — one of the few transcription tools that supports it at all.
Sinhala is poorly served by speech tools — most simply don't offer it. Whisper AI does, and writes real සිංහල script with its distinctive rounded letters rather than a phonetic stand-in. Colombo speech mixes English constantly — bus routes, job titles, tech words — and those come through in English while the Sinhala stays Sinhala.
Two ways to use it
Record Sinhala speech, or upload Sinhala audio
Record your voice
Hit the mic and speak Sinhala naturally. Dictate messages and notes without hunting for Sinhala keys.
Upload an audio file
WhatsApp voice notes, lecture recordings, interviews — upload MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, FLAC, or OGG.
How it works

Open the side panel
Click the extension icon on any website. No language settings needed — Sinhala is detected automatically.

Very few tools support Sinhala — does this really work?
Yes. Whisper AI includes Sinhala among its trained languages, which is genuinely rare. Accuracy is strong for clear speech; heavy background noise or very fast slang may need edits.
Does it write Sinhala script?
Yes — proper සිංහල script output, not romanized Singlish. Edit anything in the panel before you copy it.
Can it transcribe Sinhala voice notes?
Yes — WhatsApp voice notes download as .ogg from WhatsApp Web and upload directly. Guide: Transcribe WhatsApp voice notes.
What about Sinhala-English mixing?
Everyday Colombo speech switches constantly, and that's fine — English words stay in English, the Sinhala comes out in Sinhala script.
