Nepali rarely makes the supported-languages list of transcription tools; Whisper AI is a welcome exception. It writes Nepali in proper Devanagari — distinct from Hindi, which shares the script but not the words — and copes with the English that Kathmandu speech borrows freely. For the diaspora sending voice messages home, it turns them into text you can actually search and save.

Will it mix Nepali up with Hindi?
They share Devanagari but differ in vocabulary and sound, and auto-detect separates them reliably. A recording that genuinely alternates both may lean toward the dominant one.
Does it work for Viber voice messages?
Yes — save the voice message as a file and upload it. Viber typically exports .m4a; WhatsApp notes come as .ogg. Both upload directly.
How accurate is it for Nepali?
Strong for clear conversational speech; Nepali has less training data than Hindi, so very fast slang or noisy recordings benefit from a quick edit pass in the panel.
Can I transcribe long recordings?
Yes — upload files up to 200 MB (hours of audio) and get one full transcript to edit, copy, or download.
