Hindi speech to text — बोलिए, टाइप हो जाएगा
Dictate in Hindi or upload Hindi audio — WhatsApp voice notes, meetings, lectures — and get clean Devanagari text in the Chrome side panel.
Hindi is one of Whisper AI's strongest languages: it produces proper Devanagari with matras intact rather than a Latin-script approximation. And because everyday Hindi is really Hinglish, it keeps English words — office, meeting, deadline — in English while writing the Hindi in देवनागरी, which is exactly how you'd type it yourself.
Two ways to use it
Record Hindi speech, or upload Hindi audio
Record your voice
Press the mic and speak as you normally do — Hindi, or Hindi with English mixed in. Copy the text into WhatsApp, email, or notes.
Upload an audio file
Voice notes from family, recorded classes, interviews — upload MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, FLAC, or OGG and get the full transcript.
How it works
Three steps, no setup
Open the side panel
Click the extension icon on any website. No language settings needed — Hindi is detected automatically.
Speak or upload
Record live or drop in a file. Audio is processed securely and deleted immediately after transcription.
Copy your Hindi text
Edit the transcript in the panel, then copy it into WhatsApp, Gmail, Docs — or download it as a file.
हिन्दी टाइप करना छोड़िए। बोलिए।
No account needed. Works in 110+ languages besides Hindi.
Add to ChromeHindi transcription questions
Does it write Devanagari or Roman Hindi?
Devanagari — proper हिन्दी script, with punctuation. If you'd rather have Roman transliteration, you can edit the transcript in the panel before copying.
How well does it handle Hinglish?
Well — that's the normal register it was trained on. English words embedded in Hindi sentences stay in English; the Hindi comes out in Devanagari.
Can I transcribe Hindi WhatsApp voice notes?
Yes — download the note from WhatsApp Web (it saves as .ogg) and upload it in the panel. Walkthrough: Transcribe WhatsApp voice notes.
What about Urdu speakers?
Spoken Hindi and Urdu overlap heavily, but the scripts differ — Urdu speech is transcribed in Nastaliq script on the Urdu page's workflow. Auto-detect usually picks the right one from pronunciation and vocabulary.
